Project Summary:
Kingdoms At War is a mobile live-service game set in a high fantasy RPG world, with global PVP battles, PVE raid boss fights, deep social features and cosmetic customization.
Contributions:
Kingdoms At War was my first project at ATA. Overcoming vast systems built up over years of legacy and their idiosyncrasies, and the needs of a mature player base, I collaborated cross-discipline to launch new seasonal events and new features.
Later on, I took on a Lead role for this project, mentoring and coaching junior designers and guiding them to ensure the continued success of ATA's original hit game by revamping existing meta structures and creating new ones, improving our monetization strategy - including integrating support of our 3rd party web store - and oversaw the launch of a major new competition system.
Key Accomplishments:
Leading a successful team of two junior designers who were able to stabilize retention to slow the long tail, and reversed downward revenue trends, ending years of declining revenue.
New event formats and features revitalized the game, leading to player base growth from reactivating lapsed players, with zero UA.
